Project Profiles

A complete water harvesting system for the Milwaukee County Greenhouses construction project was provided by Skyharvester, a division of Watertronics, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Four 10′-diameter 20,000-gallon underground fiberglass storage tanks were installed to hold the water that will gather on the 60,000-square-foot glass rooftop.

The complete system, which provides automatic filtration at 5 micron, UV disinfection, and redistribution of water for year-round irrigation inside the greenhouses, will collect approximately 38,000 gallons of water for every one-inch rain event. This translates into a potential capture and reuse of over one million gallons of rainwater per year.

Other project participants included Cornerstone Plumbing (installer), and Matrix Engineering (engineer).
