Fiberglass is the #1 material of choice for fuel storage

It starts with the material. Inherently corrosion-resistant both inside and out, fiberglass has the natural edge over steel when it comes to long-term secure underground storage. A fiberglass fuel tank made of 100% premium resin and glass-fiber reinforcement needs no added linings, coatings, jackets and/or cathodic protection to protect against corrosion from either stored fuels or surrounding soil.

That’s important no matter what fuel is being stored. Xerxes double-wall tanks are compatible with all fuel products, as well as diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). Fiberglass tanks are not vulnerable to the problems metallic tanks have when storing highly corrosive ethanol-blended fuels (E10, E15, E85) biodiesel fuels and ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD).

Tank materials and geometry create structural strength

  • UL-listed and tested premium resins and glass provide internal and external corrosion resistance
  • Cylindrical tank with rounded end caps is designed to withstand the stresses of underground storage
  • Integrally manufactured fiberglass ribs function like I-beams that enhance tank strength
  • Our patented 3D Parabeam® glass fabric bonds tank walls together for added strength
  • Tank is designed to withstand H-25/HS-25 axle loads

Save space and money with a multicompartment fuel tank

A multicompartment tank is the most space-efficient way to store multiple fuel types and grades. Besides space, using one multicompartment tank rather than several smaller tanks needed to store the same fuels can also reduce:

  • transportation costs
  • installation time and labor
  • insurance costs
  • site-permitting costs

Unlike steel tanks, which require an expensive upgrade to a double-wall bulkhead, the Xerxes multicompartment tank comes standard with a double-wall fiberglass bulkhead.

Why choose a Xerxes tank?

  • UL-listed for bi-national ANSI/CAN/UL/ULC 1316:2018 standard
  • Complete range of accessories
  • Sized up to 50,000 gallons [155,000 liters]
  • Designed to withstand surface H-20 and HS-20 axle loads,
  • Lightweight tanks are easy to ship and install
  • 30-year limited warranty

Fuel Tanks Success Stories

Saving cost and space with fiberglass multicompartment tanks

When a national convenience store planned an upgrade to an existing store in Georgia, they decided to transition from steel fuel storage tanks to fiberglass tanks. The motivation was to choose the best underground tank technology to meet the growing demand for new fuels. Like many fuel markets, the c-store chain knew that a multicompartment tank was also the best option for cost-effective, space-saving installation. Two Xerxes double-wall multicompartment tanks allowed them to store several fuel types and grades: regular unleaded, premium unleaded, mid-grade unleaded, no-ethanol unleaded, E-85 and diesel.

Expanding a successful partnership

After successful installations all over the Northeastern United States, a major North American convenience store chain continues its purchasing choice of Xerxes fiberglass tanks whenever it opens new stores in other regions. A recent example is the convenience store chain installing four 20,000-gallon double-wall tanks with hydrostatic monitoring as it expanded its footprint in the Florida market. Key factors in this c-store’s continued partnership with Xerxes are reliability, quality and manufacturing facilities – with expert engineers, sales representatives and six strategically located North American manufacturing facilities.
